GLENBURN TEA ESTATE, India
There is no shortage of intrigue in India- with one of the world's most diverse terrains, the potential for new discoveries is endless. Our most recent Indian discovery is the charming Glenburn Tea Estate- that's right, a proper, active tea plantation that has remained in the hands of the same family for four generations who are proud to open their spectacular estate to visitors that dare to trek the heavenly Himalayan landscape on which it stands. What we find most impressive here beyond the absolute serenity are the following fun facts:

-Staff to guest ratio, 5:1 (!)

-The food on the estate is organically grown

-With almost 1000 people employed at the estate, it provides an amazing stream of support for the local residents

The Glenburn is like staying in someone's home that they have graciously opened up to you, with thoughtfully designed rooms, nostalgic-style hospitality and a hot cup of freshly brewed tea any time you like. Besides hiking, fishing, climbing, exploring, meditating, and just getting as far from the bustle of busy life as possible, the tea factory stands at the center of the activity circuit here and is most spectacular. You can literally spend days here learning to taste/brew/grow tea/prune leaves and probably even read leaves if you wander into the local village. India can be a very crowded place, but from this vantage point, you'd absolutely never know it. A well-worth-it break to weave into any India itinerary.

EXPLORATEUR EXCLUSIVE- Complimentary visit to tea factory, tea tasting and special gift of Glenburn Second Flush brew, one of their best teas created with leaves that draw their succulence from mangoes.

OUR NATIVE VILLAGE SOUL SPA & ECO RESORT- Bangalore, India
Nowadays, so many hotels tend to utilize the word "green" as frequently as any other commonly-found descriptive in a brochure. We found a spot that completely puts their money where their mouth is, proudly featuring an absolutely 100% eco friendly resort. How do they do this, you may say? We're glad you asked, we found this so interesting that we wanted to share it with you:

1. Electricity- It's almost all self-generated by wind and solar panels, stored in batteries that are connected to the resort. 2 bio-gas plants on property use a blend of cakes and food waste to produce a fuel that can be used in the kitchen. Genius.

2. Water- rainwater, harvested from the roofs, is the only H2O you'll find around here. Pure and natural.

3. Construction- All structures were created with materials found on site- a little soil, some sun-baked handmade bricks and voila...

4. Zero Waste Policy- all waste generated is processed, recycled and reused. Composted paper is used for bonfires, food waste gets used in the bio gas plant, kitchen water is even used for gardening. Fantastic.

5. Organic food- Most of the vegetables are grown organically, and locally. Fresh.

6. Innovations- Their swimming pool is entirely chemical free, hot water is heated via solar panels, herbal & medicinal plants are grown onsite and used in the kitchen and spa...tremendous.

have for you and finally releasing yourself from them.

As if these weren't cool enough selling points, check out the hotel's Soul Spa, delivering restorative Ayurvedic treatments, musical massages, breathing treatments and more designed to reconnect your body to your soul.

India's a true journey in itself, and it's properties like these dotted along the way that make the advenutre all the more awe-inspiring. Check it out- http://www.ournativevillage.com/
